The West Bridgford School

A Specialist Technology Academy

Show Racism the Red Card Competition

There were some amazing entries for this and lots of prizes were won. We submitted 2 entries to the County Competition which included Jenny Willet’s song ( music and lyrics composed by Jenny) supported by all 9B, singing plus drums and keyboard, plus a superb short story by Joe Sidery in Year11.

On Wed Oct 17th, all of 9B, Jo Sidery and all parents, were invited to an Awards Evening at County Hall,  where all the county schools who entered were presented with a voucher and certificate for the school.

Sophie Wells, Paralympian gold and silver medallist, for equestrian events, came to talk to the audience and share her experience of London 2012.Afterwards photo shots with the competitors plus informal chats took place.

The winners of the County Competition were also announced. We were very proud when 9B won a runner up prize, which included a cheque for £50-00  and Jo Sidery won a first prize and a cheque for £100-00.

Both entries will now go onto the National Competition.

The evening  closed with Jenny and 9B performing their song. Staff and parents were thrilled with the results.

So now we wish GOOD LUCK to the entrants for the national competition- watch this space for more information.
