Another fabulous Celebration Day
Thursday 16 Oct saw the school celebrate all things Indian, featuring a range of events. At break students sold home cooked Pakoras, Bhajis, Samosas and Indian Sweets (huge thanks to contributions from parents) while fantastic background music was provided by Yuvaj Rathor on his Dholki drum.
All this was just a warm up to lunchtime however. The canteen served a fabulous Indian menu with queues of children running the length of the dining hall. While in the dining hall students could receive Indian Mehndi Henna illustrations on their hands. A group of girls received some training in ‘Bollywood Dance’ from the wonderful Bhumika Lau and put on a show to the enjoyment of all watching. Meanwhile out on the courts Mr Kemp ran one of his ever popular activities, this time named ’Take A Wicket!!!’ with students challenged to take 3 wickets in a row (several did). Every time the school runs one of the
Celebration Day events everybody involved comments ‘It can’t get any better than that’. However Mrs Williams, with help from staff and students, has managed to top herself again with the whole school buzzing with excitement during break and lunch. Our visitors from Heymann and Jesse Gray school also had a great time.
£123 was raised from the day which will be contributed to ‘Action Village India’, a charity focusing on sustainable developments in rural India.
