West Bridgford U14 cricket team started the defence of their County title on Wednesday 6 May against Toothill School, Bingham. Having won the toss Toothill decided to bat first with the hope of posting a competitive target for Bridgford to chase. However, it took just four deliveries for the first wicket to fall and consistent bowling from the Bridgford attack ensured the wickets continued to fall. In fact, we managed to bowl Toothill out after 15.3 overs for 61 runs with Shakeel Taj and Gagandip Sehmbi taking two wickets each. The run chase didn't start as well as hoped as three early wickets fell but with time on our side Ieuan Marks-Venables steadied the ship with an unbeaten 31 which saw Bridgford comfortable winners reaching the 62 run target after just 7.3 overs and with six wickets in hand. Well done lads - a solid start to a promising season!
