I promised in the last edition to update you about the success of our latest Non-Uniform Day. I have great pleasure in letting you all know we raised £1608.98which will be donated to the Jessica Hope Foundation. Students were able to wear what they liked for the day at a cost of £1, cakes were made and donated by the students, we sold out in 15 minutes! Tutor group 10B took over the Food Tech room after school and went into mass cake production which was spectacular. All the change from the cake sales were donated to help spell out ‘HOPE’ but there were so many pennies this became ‘JESSICA HOPE’ and the iconic purple wrist bands were sold during the week and again on the day. The tutor reps from Year 10 produced a very moving assembly which they delivered to every year group within the school to let them know what the money was being raised for. We were extremely pleased to invite John Gauntley (Jessica’s Dad) in to see the assembly where he kindly said a few words about how the money would be spent. Our donation of £1608.98will be handed over to John and we know it will be distributed accordingly between the charities of Headsmart, Children’s Brain Tumour Research Centre and the new Oncology Ward at the QMC. A huge thank you to everyone involved in the day – our contribution will make a difference.
