We've just got back from the annual German Exchange trip to Kerpen near Cologne. A group of y10 and a few y11 students started their exciting trip on 25th June and returned on the 2 July. During the trip there were plenty of memorable moments. For instance, we were there during the World Cup and were supporting Germany. We visited lots of interesting places such as Aachen, Bonn, Landesdreieck and Cologne city. We also had a boat trip on the Rhine and then had a trip to Phantasialand on their school INSET day. This trip has given us an opportunity to improve our German and to make friends for life. The day trip to Bonn and to the history museum, gave us an insight into German history and their way of life.
I think we can all say that we made a lot of new friends and have mixed with people whom we usually would not mix with. On our first full day in Cologne our guide took us around the cathedral and to historical parts of the city. We also went to the sports museum where Ben Griffiths broke the old Olympic long jump record, which involved holding weights whilst taking 3 jumps.
We were all sorry to leave but hope to keep in contact with our German friends.
