Brazil day was a huge success with new foods, such as Brazilian Picadillo and vegetarian Feijoada. There was also plenty of music and fun. We had live samba music performed by pupils, after a workshop with Adam from the Nottingham School of Samba. Some year 6 pupils from Heymann and West Bridgford Juniors said it was “quite loud and very interesting”. Although Brazil had lost football the day before, most people said it didn’t matter because this was about celebrating the culture of Brazil. We had mask-making, the chance to win a giant cookie with the Brazil quiz, and Mr Kemp had plenty of people turn up for the penalty shoot-out. Loads of people helped with organising Brazil day and deserve a massive thank you.
Here is what a few people had to say about the celebration:
“I feel it went well. The samba was entertaining” year 8 pupils
“Very excited to be making a purple mask” Miss Masterson
“The food is yummy scrummy” Pupils from 10B, F and H
“Brazil day was great. I especially liked the samba and the great taste of Brazilian food” Pupils from 8F, G and H
“The music was awesome” pupils from 11F and H
“The samba has been really entertaining and enjoyable” pupil involved in the samba performance
