In February The West Bridgford School was successful in becoming and accredited provider of School Centred Initial Teacher Training (SCITT). A main part of our successful bid was the strength of partnership schools that we presented and in acknowledgement of this our SCITT is named The East Midlands Teacher Training Partnership. As a school we have always embraced the process of training new teachers as we fully acknowledge the benefits that those individuals gain from training within a supportive environment and the benefits that the school gains from have access to new ideas and academic research. This is an exciting development for our school and for people in the local community.
Many of our former trainees’ have forged very successful careers and occupy management roles in schools’. In order to provide the very best experience for our trainees’, we offer the opportunity to gain both QTS and PGCE; with the PGCE element of the course being delivered by The University of Nottingham and also carrying 60 Masters level credits.
We are committed to fostering reflective self-assured practitioners who are confident in developing their progress and ability as teachers. Trainees will have continual access to, and be supported by, subject experts and mentors all of whom have a current track record of teaching outstanding lessons.
At secondary level our partnership offers fifteen separate subjects in which to train. The entry requirements are explained on our website as are our current vacancies for this year. You will also see precisely which schools are associated with each subject and you may also follow links to their websites. The partnership is led by The West Bridgford School which is one of the top performing non-selective state schools in the country.
We are also extremely proud of the breadth and depth of opportunities we can offer our trainees’ at Primary level. You can examine our partner schools’ via our website, each one, just like the secondary partners, having strong track records in Initial Teacher Training.
