Celebrating Equality & Diversity

Our culture & diversity ambassadors have got off to a great start this year. Some of the team delivered a presentation to all year groups launching two big aaacompetitions. The first is the well-known Show Racism the Red Card, the UK’s anti-racism educational charity. The charity makes use of the high profile status of football and football players to help tackle racism in society. Staff have been making use of the fantastic resources during registration to promote a better understanding and aid discussion. The second is a local competition, Notts Say No to Prejudice. This competition is a platform for pupils to speak out in a creative way on the topic of prejudice-related discrimination, victimisation, bullying and harassment.

We have had a fantastic response with many pupils from all year groups signing up to take part. During their presentation our ambassadors shared a well-known quote from Mother Theresa, “I alone cannot change the world, but I can cast a stone across the waters to create many ripples.” So, in addition to launching the competitions, ambassadors confidently encouraged our school community to stand for positive change by doing simple acts of kindness.   They finished their presentation with a 4minute video titled ‘Be the Change’. We will keep you posted with how our pupils get on in the competitions.
