The YE company programme is where students set up and run a business. This is run as a voluntary extracurricular activity in post-16. This year some fifty students volunteered and set up two companies. One of the companies, Ohana staged a Christmas fair, sold beaded jewellery and have designed a unique click-frame. At the Nottingham area awards they won most innovative idea. The other company, Ozone designed and manufactured a build-your-own bird box. They have done exceptionally well and won best overall company in the Nottingham area awards. Then on April 29th they did even better at the County finals. They won ‘Best Financial Management’, ‘Best Innovation’ and ‘Best Overall Company. They now progress to the East Midlands final. If successful, a UK final in London and European final in Berlin in July await, so good luck and well done to those students who have given and learnt so much.
