On February 12th 42 students from Years 11 and 13 set off from school for a 24 hour coach trip to North Italy. Among the students were beginner and more advanced skiers as well as a group of snow boarders. On arriving in resort on Saturday, the students were kitted out all ready for their week of skiing. On Sunday morning, we had some down time so took the students bum boarding on a beginner slope, and this proved to be great entertainment as people went down the slope feet first, head first and in chains.
The skiing and boarding was exceptional this year with unexpectedly great snow conditions (Mr Deans needs to stop worrying!). It never ceases to amaze all involved how the students react to the beauty of the mountains with many breath-taking views matched with breath-taking runs!
The rest of the week was high octane skiing / boarding with the students all making great progress in their respective fields. One highlight was karaoke night when several of the braver students stood up in front of three other schools to sing delights such as ‘Let it Go’ and ‘Sweet Caroline’.
Other après-ski involved ice skating, pizza night, disco and our in-house quiz. The final night involved Mr Deans giving out awards to each individual student including; ‘Best Hair’, ‘Grooviest Dancer’ and ‘Screamer of the Week’.
Recruitment for ski trips takes place in September when students are given assemblies and details as always will be sent out to parents as well.
