Students Bounce out of School
Today is one of the most significant in our Year 13’s lives thus far...their final day as school students. A journey they began at age 5, today comes to an end as they complete their last day in compulsory education. They have now all received their ‘Year Books’ and it has been most amusing to hear them compare the kind of antics and comments in their Year 13 book compared to their Year 6 and even Year 11 books!

The school tradition has become that the last Friday of Year 13 is ‘Bouncy Castle Day’ with each successive year raising funds throughout their time in Post-16 in an attempt to out-do the previous year’s scale. Quite how any future year group will ever beat the monolith of bounciness that arrived on the field this morning is quite beyond the imagination! Of course all students now come to their final day in the most imaginative fancy dress possible and a few of the costumes can be seen here. The students bounced and laughed from 9.30 till 11.30, then they assembled for one last time as a year group for Mr Bowies final assembly.

Mr Bowie is an ‘Assembly Master’ and presided over laughter, groans and tears as he concluded the year group’s time in school with tales from their two years in Post-16, awards and a final stirring address to ’Look to the Future’.

Watching a ‘Washing Machine’ walk off down the drive with their arm around an ‘Condensing Dryer’ is not a normal day! However all at West Bridgford School wish our alumni the very best for the future, the best of luck in their examinations and ‘Carpe Diem’.
