Yet another ‘Best one yet!!’
For the past 8 years, I have overseen the Bridgstock performances and every year I am still amazed. Bridgstock is organised and run by sixth form students and is a highly successful example of how fantastic young people are.
The musical talent of our students always shines out, but also the high organisational skills of the Sixth Formers, the levels of excitement from all the students involved and the joy of seeing all the students work as one big ‘Bridgstock family’ always makes this event one of the highlights of my, and many other staff and students, year. Parents comments when walking out is always the same as mine, amazement, as each year just gets better and better.
Tickets sold out for the two Bridgstock performances in record time this year, with all 320 tickets selling in 72 hours. This resulted in the Sixth Form organisers making the decision to put on a third night for the first time in Bridgstock history and audiences were not dis-appointed. Spirits and energy levels were high across the three nights as the huge musical talent of our students, from Year 7 through to Year 13, shone through in stunning performances. Audiences were also entertained by performances from a teacher band and a com-bined student-teacher band. This year songs included Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons – ‘December 1963’, George Ezra – ‘Blame It On Me’, Wild Cherry ‘Play That Funky Music’. The encore saw all the students dressed up as fairy tale creatures to sing Smash Mouth’s ‘I’m A Believer’. If you missed it this year, enjoy the extravaganza of photographs and vid-eo that this West Bridgford post brings you.
Thank you to everyone for their continued support on this now truly embedded event in the West Bridgford School’s community. There is already a buzz amongst staff, students and parents about next year’s concert, and the three nights maybe to return. We hope to see you in the audience next year.
