On Monday 26th March, a selection of our Year 11 pupils were invited along to County Hall to collect their Bronze Duke of Edinburgh awards. 24 pupils in the year group have been working on this award over the last year and a half and should truly be congratulated for their efforts.

To complete the award, pupils undertook two weekends worth of walking in the Peak District where they trekked over 30 miles over both weekends. They were totally self-sufficient and carried all their food, tents and cooking equipment. Pupils also followed their own planned route using map reading and a bit of common sense! Also, once a week for 3-6 months they worked on each of the three sections that the award sets out which are skills, sports and volunteering, proving that the pupils have shown a real commitment to the award.

We will now look forward to seeing the next batch of pupils to collect their awards from County Hall over the next few months and wish good luck to the new intake of Year 10 pupils who are now taking on this challenge and will be completing numerous weekends of walking and trekking during the summer term.
