Parents and the West Bridgford School
Any successful school relies on the input and hard work of three parties; the students, the staff and the parents. The West Bridgford School is committed to involving the parents and carers of students in as many parts of school life as possible. Parental involvement runs throughout a child’s life in the school.
* Parents are kept informed of their child’s progress via regular ‘Progress Reports’. These are colour coded to highlight over or underachievement.
- Year 7 – 3 per year
- Year 8 – 3 per year
- Year 9 – 4 per year
-Year 10 – 5 per year
-Year 11 – 4 per year
- Year 12 – 4 per year
-Year 13 – 3 per year
* The school runs extended ‘Consultation Afternoons’ where parents have a chance to meet their children’s teachers and discuss progress.
* We run regular parental information evenings ranging from Year 6 Parent Roadshows through to Year 12 ‘Supporting your Sixth Former’ Evenings.
* Parents will be informed and invited to children’s performances ranging from the Year 7 Parents' Welcome Concert through to the ever successful ‘Bridgstock’.
The majority of home-school communication now takes place electronically via InTouch. Please ensure your details and registration is up to date. You will be kept up to date on developments in the school on a fortnightly basis via ‘The West Bridgford Post’.
The school is committed to setting Homework online via its Managed Learning Environment ‘Moodle’. All parents have log-ins where they can view their children’s homework, homework deadlines, attendance, achievements and timetable.
Progress Reports - the new GCSE grading system
Year 9 parents will notice that there has been a big change in how our data reports show progress - A* to G has become 9 to 1. This change has occurred for all subjects except the Technology family of qualifications. For a full explanation of this please click here.
